Barkaat discovered his artistic acumen when a life-changing brain injury left him disabled. He was paralyzed down his right side and lost his ability to speak. Deprived of the privilege of communication, he found the power of art to give him a new direction and meaning in life.
MY STORY: A TALE OF TWO BODIES
I have lived my life in two different bodies.
The first one, I was given at birth. It had all faculties intact. My arms and legs followed my will seamlessly, and I could speak! I constructed my existence with my power of eloquence. This fist body took me from childhood to adulthood and provided a vehicle for my ambitions. I chose to become a Chartered Accountant. It was all figured out in my head: job, financial stability, success, etc. I had a career, I had friends, I had plans and a life ahead of me.
